Indigenous People's Day & Native American Heritage Month
The goal of teaching specific cultural heritage months
is to help students understand and appreciate
the many cultures that create modern American culture.
Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions,
and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native people.
It is important to avoid stereotypes. Lessons and activities should rely on factual information,
teach about real people, and focus on the ways diversity makes our community and nation strong.
