The Oklahoma Reading Sufficiency Act
What is the Reading Sufficiency Act?
The Reading Sufficiency Act is an Oklahoma law which requires changes in the instruction and assessments provided
for kindergarten, first, second, and third grade students. These changes are being made to ensure that all Oklahoma
children are provided with the instructional support necessary to read on grade level by the end of third grade.
The law in its entirety, SDE resources, and a complete description of district, school, and teacher responsibilities
are available at: www.ok.gov/sde/reading-sufficiency-act.
